How to Hire a Cleaner Through GeraHome in Under 10 Minutes

Step 1: Sign Up or Sign In
Open gerahome.com or the GeraHome app. Enter phone and email; verify the SMS code. Your existing Gera account works if you have one.
Step 2: Enter Your Postcode
Postcode determines which cleaners are available and what the going rate is for your area. Londoners in SW postcodes see different availability and pricing than Haringey or Wandsworth — that is expected.
Step 3: Pick Cleaning Type
- Regular clean. Recurring weekly or fortnightly. Cheapest per hour at booking because the cleaner gets predictable work.
- One-off clean. Single visit. Slightly higher hourly rate.
- Deep clean. Thorough job; oven, inside cupboards, skirting, behind appliances. Priced per job.
- End-of-tenancy clean. Priced per property size; often includes return-receipt reporting for the landlord.
Step 4: Pick Duration
Rule of thumb: 2 hours for a studio or 1-bed, 3 hours for a 2-bed, 4 hours for 3-bed and up. For deep and end-of-tenancy cleans, the platform calculates the duration automatically from property size.
Step 5: Pick a Cleaner
The app lists available cleaners with ratings, reviews, languages spoken, and a short note from them about experience. Pick based on rating first, reviews second (read the low ones, not just the high ones). Ratings are calculated over a meaningful sample of completed jobs.
Step 6: Pick Date and Time
Show me available slots in the next 7 days. Pick the one that works. Recurring bookings let you set the same time every week or fortnight with the same cleaner.
Step 7: Pay
Card, GeraCash, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Payment is held by the platform; the cleaner is paid after the job is complete.
Step 8: Before They Arrive
- Put away fragile items and valuables you do not want moved.
- Leave instructions for anything specific (pet in the bedroom, no bleach on a surface).
- Make sure there are cleaning supplies available — GeraHome lets you pre-book a materials-included option if not.
Step 9: After the Clean
Confirm the job and leave a review. A rating below 4 triggers a human review on our side to understand what went wrong; a rating above 4 helps the cleaner surface to other customers. Both are useful to the platform and to future households.
If Something Goes Wrong
Platform-held payment means you have recourse. If the job was not done to standard, raise an in-app dispute within 48 hours. Support reviews evidence (photos, messages) and decides — the cleaner is paid only if the work was completed. For physical damage, GeraHome's provider insurance covers incidents up to the policy limit for jobs booked through the platform.
