Ask for the labour and parts shown separately, and whether the price is fixed or hourly. For a defined job, a fixed price protects you if it over-runs. Confirm the call-out fee and whether it comes off the final bill.
3. Watch for the overcharging traps
Be wary of national call-out lines that quote a low hourly rate then add large βpartsβ and βtimeβ on the invoice. A local, reviewed plumber with a transparent quote is almost always cheaper and more accountable.
