UK business rates: multipliers & bill calculator

Business rates are the tax on non-domestic property in England — your bill is the property's rateable value multiplied by a multiplier set by government, less any relief. For the 2026 to 2027 rating year (England) the small business multiplier is 43.2p in the pound and the standard multiplier is 48p. Estimate your bill — with Small Business Rate Relief — below.

Business rates — frequently asked questions

What are the business rates multipliers for 2026 to 2027 rating year (England)?

In England for the 2026 to 2027 rating year (England), the small business multiplier is 43.2p in the pound (rateable values under £51,000), the standard multiplier is 48p (RV £51,000–£499,999), and a higher multiplier of 50.8p applies at £500,000 and over.

How are business rates calculated?

Your bill is the rateable value (RV) multiplied by the multiplier in the pound, then less any relief. For example, an RV of £20,000 × 43.2p = £8,640 gross. Use the calculator above for your own RV.

What is Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR)?

SBRR cuts the business-rates bill for businesses that use a single property. If your rateable value is £12,000 or less you get 100% relief and pay nothing. Between £12,001 and £14,999 the relief tapers gradually from 100% down to 0%. At £15,000 and above there is no SBRR.

Do I qualify for Small Business Rate Relief?

Generally yes if your property’s rateable value is below £15,000 and it is the only property your business uses (some additional-property rules can still allow it). The estimator lets you toggle the single-property condition to see the effect on your bill.
