How to Book a Home Service on GeraHome

From finding the right professional to rating the completed job — here is exactly how booking works on GeraHome.

Search for your service

From the GeraHome homepage or the Search page, type the service you need — for example "plumber", "house cleaner", or "electrician". You can also browse by category. If you are not sure what you need, describe the problem and GeraHome will suggest the right service type.

Browse and filter providers

You will see a list of available professionals in your area. Use filters to narrow by star rating (we recommend 4.5 and above for first bookings), price range, availability date, and verified status. Each profile shows their bio, trade certifications, and past customer reviews.

View a provider's profile

Tap any provider to open their full profile. Here you can see their credentials and background check status, photos of past work, all customer reviews with dates, response time, and whether they are background verified. Only proceed with verified providers for peace of mind.

Select a date and time slot

On the provider's profile, choose a date from their availability calendar. Available time slots will appear — select the one that works for you. If no slots fit, you can send the provider a message to ask about flexibility.

Enter your service address

Type in the address where the work needs to be done. You can save addresses to your account for future bookings. The address is only shared with the provider after your booking is confirmed and payment is processed.

Confirm booking and pay

Review the booking summary — service type, date, time, provider, and total price. Complete payment using your preferred method (card, GeraCash wallet, or local payment option for your country). Your payment is held in escrow and only released to the provider after the job is complete.

Note: Your payment is protected by GeraHome escrow. Funds are only released after you confirm the job is done. If something goes wrong, you can raise a dispute and we will investigate.

Track provider arrival

On the day of service, you will receive a reminder notification. Once the provider is on their way, you can track their location in real time within the GeraHome app. You will also see their estimated arrival time. If they are running late, they can send you a message.

Rate the service after completion

After the job is finished, confirm completion in the app — this releases payment to the provider. You will then be prompted to leave a star rating and written review. Your feedback helps other customers and rewards quality providers. You earn GeraCoins for every review submitted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book same-day or emergency services?
Yes. Many providers offer same-day availability. Filter by "Available Today" in the search results. For emergencies (e.g. burst pipe), use the urgent booking flag — providers who accept urgent work will appear at the top.
What if I need to change the address after booking?
You can update the service address up to 4 hours before the appointment by going to My Bookings and editing the booking details. For changes closer to the appointment, contact the provider directly via in-app messaging.
Can I request a cost estimate before confirming?
Yes. On the provider's profile, tap "Request a Quote". Describe the work needed and the provider will send you a fixed-price quote. Quotes are valid for 48 hours. You can compare quotes from multiple providers before committing.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. All payments go through GeraHome's escrow system. Your card is charged at booking, but the funds are held securely and only released to the provider after you confirm the work is complete. You are never paying upfront to an individual — you pay GeraHome, who guarantees the service.
What happens if I need to cancel?
See our full Cancellation and Refund Policy. In short: cancel 24+ hours before for a full refund; cancel 4–24 hours before for a 50% refund; less than 4 hours: no refund (the provider has reserved their time for you).
